Strongly characterised by a creative trans-disciplinary approach and rooted in a collaborative, research-based and experimental practice, Montaldi’s work critically explores, investigates and reflects upon contemporary material culture, thereby creating new opportunities and visions for both the (creative) industry and for the broader social spectrum.
His multidisciplinary studio, Officina Corpuscoli, provides creative consultancy and develops commissioned and self-initiated research & projects, often inspired by and in collaboration with living systems and organisms, with a specific focus on fungal mycelium.
Furthermore, Montalti is co-founder and R&D Director of MOGU, an innovation-driven, environmentally-conscious company stemmed from his design research projects and dedicated to developing and scaling-up a range of mycelium-based technologies for the production of naturally-grown biomaterials and products, able to satisfy the market demand for sustainable and high-performance alternatives in many different fields and markets, such as, beyond others, fashion and interior design.
