Leonardo co-leads the Forest and Agriculture Markets Initiative at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, one of the largest private philanthropies in conservation. The initiative goal is to help delink agricultural production from ecosystem degradation globally. He also collaborates with the Climate and Land Use Alliance, a donor alliance that seeks to realize the potential of forests and land use to mitigate climate change.
Previously, Leo oversaw projects across Latin America as Conservation Strategy Fund’s program manager and senior environmental economist. In 2012 Leo and his former colleagues received the MacArthur Foundation’s Award for Creative and Effective Organizations.
